Engl 487: English Romantic Literature

Policies and Grading

I believe my grading and your responsibilities should be as clear as possible.

I assume everyone in my classes wants to improve his/her writing, learn to communicate better, exercise his/her imagination, and sharpen his/her critical thinking and interpretation skills. Therefore, while I will respond thoroughly to the specifics and nuances of your writing, projects, and presentations, you will be graded for meeting explicit objectives.

I keep track of your attendance, projects, presentations, and assignments on a spreadsheet. At the end of the semester, I compute the cumulative scores. To make a final grade determination, I review the course work, one student at a time and assign the earned grade. Then I look at such things as improvement over the semester, in-class participation and engagement, and the overall quality of the work and make an adjustment (up or down with the use of +/-).
